Covington and Keyston Museum - Home Page

Welcome to our museum and a very big thank you for visiting.

The group was initially formed in Covington, before incorporating Keyston, so the majority of finds shown in our museum come from the parish of Covington.

But history groups are not just about archaeological finds so we have taken the opportunity to provide a more comprehensive view of both villages histories by including documents, photographs, newspaper cuttings, and video and audio output.

Currently we have over 475 items in the collection, although not all are on the site, the majority of them being coins.

Our sincere thanks go to Richard Brown for providing access to the groups metal detection finds.

Some of the Roman coins have clear photographs but have not been identified. If you can identify an item based on the photograph please do get in touch.

Over time we intend to continue to increase the number of items shown on this site, If there is anything you would like to see please let us know.

You will be able to search the catalogue through three key elements, if you know exactly what you are interested in then you can enter the system by Name click on the first letter of your object and a list of items starting with that letter will appear.

If on the other hand what you are interested in is a high-level overview of what is available under each category you enter the by Keyword section e.g. you want to know what pottery is on the site, you go to the letter p and find the list.

The highest level of search is by Category searches in this section return very high groupings e.g. Archaeology, Document, Photographs etc. you would use this type of search if you wanted a very high-level overview.

Whatever search method you choose, once you have your list of items and have chosen the item you are interested just click on the link and it will take you to core details about it, and a photograph, to let you see what it looks like.

The three search options are available via the following links:
